Road Trip (29 April - 1 May 2006) Day 3 - Heidelberg
Last stop before the long drive home: Heidelberg, a town in Baden-Württemberg halfway between Stuttgart and Frankfurt. Since we reached there quite late, we only had time to visit the castle, which wasn't much on the inside, but quite a bit on the outside. Originally a fort, it was transformed into a castle in 1544, but damage over the years have left it in ruins.

The castle from below, yes, it's just ruins

The path up is quite steep, as always...

View from the courtyard

The palace buildings

View of the old city

I wouldn't want those to fall on me

The dry moat

Ruins, but beautiful ruins

If you know what I mean

Admit it, it's interesting nonetheless

The castle gardens

Fountain in the garden

View of the whole castle

Don't ask me why there're sheep here

The flowers are coming out

Kids playing in the park... It's Spring!!!

The humongous Heidelberg Tun, capacity of 220,017 litres!!!

I told you the road down was steep!
