Road Trip (29 April - 1 May 2006) Day 1&2 - Rothenburg ob der Tauber
Next stop, the touristy Rothenburg ob der Tauber (Rothenburg over the Tauber), a town in Mittelfranken (Middle Franconia) about 65km south of Würzburg. Situated on a hill some 80m over the Tauber River, Rothenburg is a place that is stopped in time, with medieval buildings and structures, some even dating back to 10th Century AD.
We reached there in the evening, which makes us just in time for the Night Watchman's Tour, in which we are brought around and told stories about beautiful Rothenburg.

The Rathaus

The Night Watchman (yes, its 8pm in Spring)

This pub is called "Hell" (notice the devil sign hanging outside?), so according to the Night Watchman, if someone yells "Go to Hell" at you, it's a good recommendation!

The Rathaus at the end of the tour (9pm)

The streets at night

Of course, the Night Watchman

The Schneeballen, or "Snowballs", very famous snack here.

Rathaus in the morning

The Jakobskirche (St. Jacob's Church)

I've been to the Louvre!!! Except this one's not in Paris

A portion of the city wall that can be ascended

View from the city wall

View along the sentry's path

Around the city wall

The castle garden

Note that you can see the base of the stone in the water

Flowers are coming out, it's Spring!!!

The Doppelbrucke

At the Medieval Crime Museum

Johanniskirche (St. John's Church)

The Plönlein, the smallest square in the world with only ONE fountain

The Siebersturm (Siebers Tower) at the wall

Inside the Siebersturm...

There are cannons...

And small windows

The old blacksmith

Looking at Markusturm (Mark's Tower) down the street
